What influences the price of a custom closet?

IVORY CUSTOM WALK-IN CLOSET DESIGN WITH HUTCHSince it is not possible to provide a standard price of a custom closet, our free, in-home closet design consultation is very important. It gives us the opportunity to measure your space, check for crooked walls or floors, see how your walls are constructed, check the type of flooring, note any obstacles that will impact the design and any additional factors that may influence the final price. After the initial consultation, we will deliver a full, detailed proposal with costs for all parts of the project.

Initial 3D drawings of your new closet or other organization system will also be included for free so that you can see exactly what you will be getting for your money.

Do not be afraid to be honest with us! It will allow us to steer you in the right direction so that your custom closet stays within your budget.  We are not trying to short change you or max-out your budget.  We are trying to meet all your needs and hopes while maximizing the storage in your closet and achieving the look and functionality you want.

We do not up-sell accessories and features you do not need or want.  If you have a list of “must have” design features or accessories, please share them with us.  Our goal is to exceed your expectations at a price point you are comfortable with.

We do not use strong arm sales tactics to close the sale the day of the consultation nor do we give you a “guesstimate” of what your custom closet will cost.

Overall closet pricing is determined by:

  1. Size of your closet. The larger the closet, the more material is needed to fill it.
  2. Type of closet system. A suspended system is more economical than a floor based system.  We also use a combination of the two systems depending on the features selected.
  3. Material and color. Different colors of laminate will cost different amounts — At Austin-Morgan Closets, we are proud to offer the six most popular color choices for the same price as basic white.
  4. Design features. For example, shelving is more expensive than hanging storage, and drawers are more expensive than shelves.

The typical price of a custom master closet can range from $2,500 – $5,500 including design, drawings and installation.  The average client spends about $3,500 on their custom closet.

We are homeowners and have been in the construction and real estate industries for over 30 years. We understand that every home renovation project has its own priorities, perceived value and financial worth.  Open communication is the key to getting the right organization system at the right price.  We believe that since we all must get up and get dressed every day, having a well-organized custom closet is a worthwhile investment.  A custom closet provides an organized space to store all your clothing, shoes and personal belongings.

Shop around and carefully compare value.*  Every company does not offer the same quality of product. Check whether the company is licensed, bonded or insured.  Generally, you’ll find that you get what you pay for.

*Note: We offer a custom, premium product and there are many factors to consider when designing your closet. Even when proposals appear similar on the surface, chances are that they contain differences that affect the overall price.
